Mandy Kirby
Co-Chair of ACT Stewardship Council & Chief Strategist at City Hive
A driven social entrepreneur with expertise in sustainable finance, ESG and culture derived from global industry sectors and stakeholder perspectives, Mandy brings two decades of experience in advisory, research and sustainability to advocate for cultural change in the investment management industry.
She believes that for investors to play their role in shaping a more sustainable and equitable society, they must address inclusion, diversity and equality in their organisations and do so transparently. Advocacy roles include membership of the City of London Socioeconomic Diversity Taskforce, and she is a Fellow of the RSA, and collaborating with groups such as the Diversity Project. In order to highlight rising stars and strong performers across diverse categories, she judges industry awards, including ESG Clarity Awards, Portfolio Advisor Wealth Partnership Awards and the Women in Investment Awards.
Mandy has advanced investor reporting and disclosure across a number of areas; most recently City Hive's ACT Corporate Culture Standard. She is author of a British Standard on Responsible and Sustainable Investment Management (BSI PAS7341), and part of the BSI’s Strategic Advisory Group for Sustainable Finance. Formerly, as Chief Reporting Officer at the UN supported Principles for Responsible Investment, she encouraged collaboration and coordination with global financial and sustainability reporting and standard setting bodies to drive quality improvements in sustainability information and reporting across the investment industry.
The broader value chain is also important and Mandy understands the corporate perspective, as former Chair of the Shell Sustainability Report Review Panel. Previously, at the Maplecroft consultancy, she advised global blue-chip clients in both developed and emerging markets on issues of risk management and sustainability. Active in her community, Mandy is Governor with responsibility for Equalities and Pupil Premium at Gillespie Primary School in London.
